SF to Williamsburg, BK thoughts?

Title says it: I am in M&A and have a relo opportunity to move from SF to NYC.

Currently live in PAC Heights and would like a similar feel.

My friends who live in Williamsburg, and my wife who is a visual artist are telling me to move to there, but I don’t know enough about it. It seems marginally less expensive, but logistically much more difficult. Job is in Battery Park City.

Any thoughts?

Marginally less expensive in Williamsburg? Lol Let me tell you, Williamsburg is possibly one of the most expensive areas to live in NYC right now. I also don't really get an artsy vibe from Williamsburg anymore. You would have to live in deep Williamsburg/Bushwick to feel the artsyness, and let me tell you, those areas are sketchy and due to irrational people rents and prices are going up. Commuting also sucks. L train has constant issues and is overcrowded.

I would recommend living in Fidi/Battery Park. It's easy to get to Brooklyn and most parts of the city from there.

I’m a kid who lives in NYC and Williamsburg is kinda out of the way from a lot of things. I would recommend using google maps and seeing the commutes from each prospective apartment to your office.
