Should have been a good boy

I'm sure everyone who bothers to learn more through WSO knows better, but I thought I would throw this out anyways.

So back in college when I was an underclassman, I didn't think much about future or career, so I just grabbed whatever internship I could find, and for me that was a local buy-side investment management firm. Well, I didn't care too much for it and figured I'd just get a few bucks for the summer and be done with it. Not surprisingly, I was let go early due to my dicking around and being late/leaving early and all that shit. I was like, whatever more summer break for me.

Now it's coming back to haunt me, because on my employment application I have to list previous work/job history and when my potential employer contacts that firm where I interned at, I'll be screwed.

So let this be another lesson to you all. However insignificant your current work/internship may seem to you right now, do your best and don't jerk around like i did. At least develop a good relationship with your firm so they can give you a good reference later on.

That may be so, but at the end of the day, it will still screw me over. I am attending the final interview next week and the HR rep told me that I will be filling out employment application and that I should prepare employer reference and contact information.

The ironic thing is that it sucks you got paid.

If it were unpaid as most internships are, you could have had a valid excuse to altogether not list it.

Sorry to hear it might come back to bite you.
