Should I put “incoming analyst” title on my LinkedIn?

I saw that old thread on here making fun of kids that put incoming, but now that it seems like everybody has it I wonder if I’m missing out on any opps by not adding it to my page?

Those of you that have it do recruiters reach out to you?

I didn’t do banking last summer but starting at a boutique next year and would like to do PE in the future.

God no, don't do it. Btw any recruiter that adds you on linkedin is not a serious recruiter.

Generally speaking older analysts in your group will pass your class's information on to the serious recruiters. There is absolutely no value to adding "incoming analyst/summer analyst" to your linkedin title than looking like an insecure tool

Yeah I see your point but if they are looking for certain experiences? I assume when they contact the 2nd years and associates for next analysts info they just get the name and email. Wouldn’t they use LinkedIn to search for analysts with previous PE internships, extracurriculars, etc. ?

Key work here being "previous". You don't have any previous experience so recruiters couldn't care less about your LinkedIn, yet. Please take the advice of every person on this forum and refrain from joining the 'incoming analyst' cock measuring contest on LinkedIn

not necessarily true, im interning in BusDev at a hedge fund right now, and while vast majority of talent comes from our relationships and established recruiters, we do post job listings on linkedin and also use linkedin to research candidates were targetting but don't have a resume on file yet

Truthfully, there is little tangible benefit to having the title on your LinkedIn.

But it does help to send out a "mass" message to your network; instead of having to message each person one by one saying "hey man I got the offer" you could just let everyone know at once.

In other fields, it would be considered weird/showing off or whatnot, but we all know how irrational IB can be, and in this day and age the vast majority of prospective IB kids in college have the "incoming" titles on their LinkedIn's.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. In fact, I think it's really helpful - I've gotten in contact with other incoming interns at the firm, which I would not have been able to do if they didn't have the title.

Funniest

Ever since I put incoming analyst on my LinkedIn I’ve been getting laid a lot more. Chicks just love dudes with high status / high paying / intellectually rigorous jobs. I even slid into a girls DMs on LinkedIn - no chance it would’ve worked if I didn’t list my internship coming up.

It’s important to note that I go to an ivy and I’m doing IB at an EB. If you go to Purdue and are doing ER at scotia bank, I wouldn’t expect it to have the same effect.

Fuckin my way thru nyc one chick at a time
