Should I put my side hustles profits on LinkedIn?

I quit my IBD job last year to take a career break for travelling and whilst doing that in order to fund my travels and rent etc I started my own little online side hustle which turned out to be quite successful making $25k profit in 4 months.

so on LinkedIn I put a new role with the description “took a career break to travel whilst starting my own business which generated $25k profit in 4 months”.

However one of my friends saw and text me saying it’s extremely cringey to say how much profit I made and that it should also be confidential.

but the reason I put it was because I wanted to show I was productive during my travels and made a very successful side hustle.

so I’m not sure what to do, what’s everyone’s views is it good to include the amount of profit or should I remove it or phrase it differently?

In addition to agreeing with the above commenter that your friend doesn’t seem like a great person. I’d also like to point out the difference between a fact vs an opinion.

“Being cringey” is not a statement of fact. Could your profits adversely affect your candidacy in some firms? Yes. Will if objectively ruin all outcomes? No. Is it good or bad? Neither, it just is. What’s your objective? If it is to be the most marketable, I agree with the other commenter it’s likely best to be in Stealth Startup and disclose the skills you’ve learned to generate said profit. Who gives a shit what other people stalking LinkedIn think unless you want a potential employer to view you a specific way?

Also just curious- $25k in 4 months is impressive. Why would you want to go back to work? Could you scale this into a nice lifestyle business? Check out Rob Walling on YouTube and elsewhere, he has great content on lifestyle businesses.

I think your friend is trying to say is that its a bit ostentatious to talk about the money you made. if you want show scale/success you can just indirectly say that with "shipped 1000+ products" or "reached 500 customers", or even revenue instead of pure profit.
