Should I try my hands on CFA level 1 exam?

So I just graduated hight school and got an offer from Durham university to study finance with a foundation year. Now, I wasn't too cane on doing the foundation year but my other options were no where as good as this one. I can't do spring week as most offers are for first-year students on a three-year course and second-year students on a four-year course.

So I'm thinking of signing up for CFA whilst I'm in doing my foundation year so at least I'm doing something that'll contribute to my future.
I'm aware of how difficult it is and how much work I'll have to put in but I think it's worth a shot. After all, I did IB diploma in high school and did Chemistry HL, Business HL and Biology HL (subjects that demanded a lot of reading). My foundation year molecule looks reasonably chilled and easy going; mostly just teaching Math and English.

What do you think?

I'm not entirely clear on what a foundation year is, but my advice to you is to take a bit of time and have fun.

You're going to work like crazy for the rest of your life, you gotta chill a bit when you can.

Also, have a good idea of what you actually want / need the CFA for. A lot of that time could be better spent reaching out to people, studying for interviews, etc.

Not sure what is a foundation year but cfa level 1 needs rigorous study especially if you don’t have accounting major. Go for it if you are willing to study for 300 hours minimum but if you don’t the time dont waste your money

I'm not sure if the CFA L1 requirements have changed since I took it (~2 years ago) but back then I believe you had to be in your last year of university or have x-years of work experience in order to take the exam.

CFA Level I basically covers everything that you should learn during your 4 years of undergrad. That's why the optimal time to take it in my opinion is near graduation or shortly afterward.

In your case, it would be really weird if you do it now. You would pretty much spend the next four years of your college business classes twiddling your thumbs.
