Speed and Accuracy

Hi all,

Wanted to come on here to get a pulse check from people. Is it really possible to get good at both speed and quality simultaneously? That seems to be the feedback I’ve mainly been getting and I am trying my absolute best to implement both but it just doesn’t seem to be working out. If managers want things done accurately, how on earth can I get better at doing it as fast as possible? This is something I feel like takes time to get good at, but right after I received the feedback (about 3 weeks) my manager was mad I didn’t get better already.

Does anyone have tips and tricks for how they got good at this in investment banking? Although I always try to blame myself first and be honest with myself about my flaws, sometimes I feel like I’m just getting discouraged and ultimately pushed out.

Thank you!

Was the feedback you received more about the speed or the accuracy? Think most people would agree accuracy > speed unless you are being painfully slow

From the conversations I’ve had they keep stressing both. When I take a little longer to be more accurate, they’ll get mad I was too slow. But when I turn in work super speedy it’s mainly formatting problems that my team gets mad about. I just feel like I can’t win !
