SPORTS IB
What type of investment banking would cover sports related companies-- does anyone have any insight into which firms get the most sports-related deal flow? My dream job is to work in sports in some way (PE, etc.) and I am interested in doing the banking stint first.
GS TMT, Allen, Raine, Moelis LA and PJT
Allen, LionTree, Moelis, any top TMT shop really
TMT and it should fall under the Media subvertical
RedBird Capital just bought AC Milan. Obviously thats PE, but definitely one of the manor sports players.
Galatioto Sports Partners are the OGs of sports team sales/purchases
apparently Moelis worked on the Chelsea FC deal
Raine probably has the best exposure, they're on most of the big sport asset sales and do a ton of cap raise / private placement work for sports teams / leagues as well. They have their tombstones listed on their site so easy to see what they've done, they have a lot of cool transactions.
+1 Some solid sports exits too: Excel Sports - sports agency, Endeavor (a few years back, one of their VPs left and was a Chief Dev Officer there. I think he now is a C-suite for one of their business units)
Definitely Raine like others have mentioned, but also definitely PJT -- Don Cornwall is probs the most well known and successful sports sports banker in the industry.
