Success rates and fees on M&A buy-side mandates

I currently work in sell-side M&A at a boutique LMM firm and am looking at moving into a role at a buy-side focused M&A firm.

I have almost no experience running buy-side engagements and was wondering what the success rate / close rate on those engagements looks like as well as the success fees for those deals.

For fees, there are a bunch of data aggregators out there you can use to benchmark based on size etc. Firmex has one I think.

Success rate is tough to quantify. Lots of factors at play (in no particular order) - timing, industrial logic, buyer credibility, form of consideration, seller motivations etc. etc.

I think Firmex' guide is sell side focused, which is quite different than buy side arrangements.
