Summer 2026 - IB in Charlotte or Risk Mgmt in NY

Current sophomore at a non-target recruiting for IB junior summer (Summer 2026). Recently received a generalist IB offer from WF, but in Charlotte.  Also received a first-round for risk mgmt at MUFG in NY, but would have to sign WF now and reneging later. Would MUFG risk mgmt be worth reneging WF for, just bc i want to be in NY?

Would also appreciate any insights about WF Charlotte to NY post-junior summer (1st yr analyst) - is it doable if I network early? Any advice on Charlotte placement for junior summer?

edit: got a Superday invite for JPM private bank @ a satellite office. should I accept or just sign WF and move on?

tldr - sign generalist IB offer at WF in Charlotte?

Sign with WF IB -> lateral to other shop in NYC. That’s what I did my sophomore year: REPE -> LevFin

You’re still young so you have time. Doing WF you actually have something to back you when you’re tryna recruit shops in NYC (assuming you want to do smth in IB/PE)

Did a 2024 internship with Wells in CLT. Really great experience -- solid amount of deal flow in my group, lots of return offers, and 1.5x for OT. Also its clear the bank is prioritizing building out the IB platform with lots of new hires, etc.
Know that they've changed the process somewhat, but  saw multiple interns transfer from CLT to NY for full time.
Personally, would take Wells if you want to do IB (obviously)
