TD Securities IB 2020
How does TD Securities stack up in 2020 for Investment Banking. Haven't heard of them at all but looking through LinkedIn most employees seem to be from good schools, although that might not mean anything.

Career Resources
Top 2 bank in Canada consistently now after RBC Capital Markets. Still not a major player in the US, but definitely looking to grow their presence.
Fun fact: TD will be the title tenant in the One Vanderbilt tower coming up in NYC
TD > BMO?
I'd say so. TD M&A has kicked ass for a few years now and they have some strong coverage groups (CMT and DIG these days). BMO obviously still dominates M&M though.
edit: would also add their amazing culture as a bonus

RBC here - TD is the only domestic rival we look at in terms of competition (not for deal flow, everyone's 'competition') but in terms of culture, pay, etc. TD is a great shop and they're doing better and better. The culture is great as well. To whomever asked if TD was better than BMO, in terms of culture it's a massive difference.
Are you referring to a specific region?
Yeah, meant Canada which is both RBC and TD's home turf (although the former is debatable as the NYC office is like 10x the size)
How do you view TD's US presence?
Growing but long way to go. They certainly are investing and have poached a lot of top senior talent in past two years. Let’s see if it translates to deal flow but they seem serious
Is there referring to TD NY or TO? Any news on how they are doing in NY?
Does anybody know where TD is in their recruiting?
canada theyre usually just behind RBC so one of the big players there.
In the US they've been kicking ass in lev fin this year from the numbers.
also pre-corona they were throwing resources at RE (bought out some shop) but it might just all blow up in their face now lol. dont know where they stand now and how much impact it has had but def the intent seemed to be there.
during my mba recruiting few years ago i almost signed with them and actually really liked the team but just couldnt take the plunge with the uncertain brand name. however they made a big pitch about their future plans and why its the right time to sign with them. And tbh they have made an attempt
still they are clearly lower tier.
Anybody have any insight on their CMT group?

Can anyone comment on their DCM practice?
In DCM at a different shop so can't comment on their culture but they're a good mid-to upper pack DCM shop and the people over there are always good to work with.
Do you know if DCM groups in Canada are run out of their IBD arms or their S&T divisions?
Which other banks would TD compare to in the US? Thoughts on TD prestige vs DB/KeyBanc/Stifel/Cantor/BMO?
I would put TD as a mid-tier bank in your group. DB is the best one, Cantor is arguably the worst, and Stifel, BMO, TD aren't too different
Interesting, thanks.
Would you say Key is also mixed in with TD, BMO, Stifel?
Anybody have insight regarding exits for TD's NY office?
TD Securities (tech) vs. FT Partners? I received offers for both (NY offices).
What did you end up choosing and how is it going so far?
Bump
Looks like they’ve got decent DCM and LevFin groups based on the league tables

Anyone know what the deal flow & culture are like in their P&U group in Toronto?
Any intel on bonuses?
