TD Securities IB NYC Outlook

Hi everyone,

I just received an invite to TD Securities Invest in success program which guarantees a Superday for the NYC office.

I'm wondering how TD is viewed by lateral recruiters and also viewed in general. Will I get good exposure here if offered a spot and I accept it? How is the banks outlook? Target school 3.9 GPA

Based on previous WSO threads, TD Securities is consistently recognized as a top 2 bank in Canada, alongside RBC Capital Markets. However, in the U.S., particularly in NYC, it is not yet considered a major player but is actively working to grow its presence. The firm has been making efforts to expand its investment banking footprint, which could provide you with solid exposure and opportunities, especially if you're looking to be part of a growing platform.

For lateral recruiting, TD Securities might not carry the same weight as some of the bulge bracket firms in NYC, but its reputation is strong enough to open doors, especially if you gain meaningful deal experience. The fact that many of its employees come from strong academic backgrounds (as noted in LinkedIn observations) also reflects positively on the firm.

If you're offered a spot, it could be a good stepping stone, particularly if you're looking to build a strong foundation in investment banking and potentially lateral to a larger platform later. With your 3.9 GPA from a target school, you’re already in a strong position to leverage this opportunity effectively.
