Technology and investment?
Here is my predicament:
I'm a college freshmen with a passion for investment and engineering. However, I have no interest in becoming a venture capitalist. I enjoy solving complex and multifaceted problems.
I'm thinking about majoring in economics and minoring in mathematics. In addition to my workload and extracurricular activities, I read everything I can on start-ups, value investment, and management. I'm also learning how to program.
I feel like I'd get really bored if I focused solely on investment banking. Must a choose one over the other?
I'm open to all suggestions. Please and thank you!
major in both if you can.
Don't forget to socialize and make long lasting friendships. The longer you are in this business the more you realize how you can always teach someone how to do a DCF but you can't (as easily) teach social skills. Balance work with party. Talk to girls. Make a bunch of friends. Trust me on this one.
O ya and major in both.
Thanks for the advice. I am a girl. A really anti-social one. I tend to do very well in the academic environment and public speaking however, I suck at small talk. It's definitely something I need to work on.
So you think I should double major in econ/math or econ/computer science? How do I go about double majoring in two technical majors without: a.) Spending too much time in college (I tend to learn better on my own and I want to go out there and make things happen) and b.) Burning out
Note: I'm working on possibly transferring to Berkeley or Stanford to be closer to the Bay Area.
