Thank you letters for 1st Round OCR Interview
What's the convention on this? Non-target, so we only have a handful of banks interview on campus. Tier-2 boutique (Jefferies/Houlihan/Guggenheim).

Send a short but polite email to your interviewer(s).
Honestly doesn't matter. I've sent it and got dinged, forgot to send it and recieved an offer/moved to next round.
This is the correct answer.
As Sil has said on previous related threads, it would be really silly for an interviewer to not move you onto the next round just because you didn't send a thank you letter.
This is incorrect logic. If you're trying to establish a relationship between thank you letters and getting to next round, your experience would suggest that sending a letter would be detrimental to your chances. That's obviously not the case though.
I also disagree that it doesn't matter and I'll tell you why. You never know what your opposition [other students] is doing. If everyone else in OCR sent follow-up emails and you're the one student who did not, you stand out and look sloppy. All else being equal between two borderline candidates, the one who sent the letter will probably move on. If recruiting is such a crapshoot with so many factors out of your control, why not maximize that which you can control? Also if nothing else, banking is a "check the box" job where people are highly sensitive to protocol; this is another one of those dumb boxes its probably best to check.
Alternatively if bomb your interviews, sending these emails obviously does nothing to improve your chances.
Right, ultimately it never hurts to send and I don't disagree with you on that.
As for my original post I was showing examples of how ultimately it didn't end up mattering at least from my experiences.
