He makes alot of good points. The problem is that IB, Consulting are the two best risk-adjusted career paths and its not even close with respect to optionality & compensation ceilings. Engineering (both hardware and software) may pay well but are far too technically demanding, and lack the same growth avenues as IB. While IB is more about surviving the hours/lifestyle and producing good product --> VP, if you aren't technically competent enough, you will never become a lead software engineer at FAANG. I think there needs to be more careers for junior people where they can get the optionality they desire. Until then, I don't see anything changing with consulting, and IB so long as the pay remains superior.
