Things look bleak. Advice needed

I don't want to whine or complain in this post but I ended up not being able to get any jobs that were IB adjacent and ended up with only a big four tax offer. I'm struggling mentally because this job places me farther away from my goal of working in lev fin. I know failure is apart of the process but I'm not going to lie, this has been really tough. Does anyone know what I can do?

I don’t know your background, but assuming you are still in college, have you ever thought about extending grad by a semester to try and leverage the current offer you have for IB or similar front office role?

And if your only goal is to work in LevFin, there are consistently placements for MBA Assoc in some pretty competitive LevFin teams (BofA/MS/JPM/GS)

Once again, not sure the circumstances you are in (school, location, finances, etc…) but a wise man once said that when there is a will, there is a way.

It’s also not completely out of the picture to spend a couple of years at a Big 4 and try and lateral to a MM with LevFin/DCM groups (JEFF/Blair/SMBC) assuming that all you want at the end of the day is any LevFin or debt offer.

Almost every single person on this forum has been in the position you are, so pull yourself up by your bootstraps or you will be banished to Big 4 your entire life with that mindset.

I appreciate the advice. I'm literally graduating in like 2 days. I think tough love definitely the answer. Like yeah stuff is rough, but so is life especially for people w/ ambitious goals to break into IB. Def will prolly go the grad school route.
