Probably because it is all ex Setter people, which is a boiler room. Idk man depends what you want to do. They seem to have real AUM, but it’s secondaries so it probably is just cold calling people and doing fund accounting. I haven’t heard of them before so can’t comment otherwise. Top secondaries shops in Toronto would be White Horse / North Leaf, and then relevant pension teams

Lol not a boiler room at all - know people who worked there and had very legit deals come across their desk — no one on the “junior level” did any sourcing work

 

I think the key word you used is "worked" (past tense).

 

The Prospect in IB. There are like 10 ppl working there now but they've had like 30 staff leave...entire team has turned over multiple times. There was talent there but not anymore

 

Is Hiive a spin off of setter? It's a Vancouver based start up focused on secondaries in VC, founders worked at setter.
