Thoughts on Tech Layoffs?

Google, Microsoft, Amazon, so-called Meta, and Twitter have all slashed ~5%+ of their respective workforces. Looks like big tech is getting hit with layoffs even harder than finance at the moment.

What effect do you think this will have, if any, on recruitment into finance, or on any other aspect of our employment situation?

Sucks because I was recruiting for tech internships this year. No luck at FAANG. During the tech boom last year, I heard nearly everyone got online assessments and then got hired if they did reasonably well during interviews. This year I didn't get even to the OA stage at a lot of these places (with T10 school, good CS GPA). Maybe I just did something wrong, but this year seemed a lot harder to break in. Can anyone who recruited successfully comment on this?
