Too late to get into trading?

30 yo 2nd year Assoc at a MM IB. Started career in accounting, got into banking later. No STEM education (majored in accounting). Have been working on MM industrials for the last ~5 years. When I switched from accounting to IB years ago I wanted to get into trading but was unable given lack of credibility. Miraculously was able to get into IB through a connection/luck. Would it be too late to take a second shot at this? Would be interested to hear if anyone has done something like this or if you’re in trading the steps you’d recommend to get into a prop trading firm somewhere. Back then, I wanted to be discretionary but I’m not sure how viable that is anymore.
