Too late to leave Corporate Banking at VP level?
Been working in CB for 5 or so years now. Just got promoted to VP and I’m looking to exit. The hours are great and the pay is very solid but I’m literally not learning anymore. Tired of the repetitive capital structure discussions and plain vanilla structures. Pitching the same BS to every client is boring. My bank has Corporate Banking under the Corporate and Investment Banking umbrella so every now and then there’s a unique transaction to work on. I’m simply just not learning anymore.
I’m not sure what I want to do next, but I’m wondering if it’s too late to leave since I’m not an Analyst or Associate anymore. Would also be curious what exits you guys have seen for Corporate Bankers. 90% of people don’t leave since the pay/WLB is solid.
Never too late to leave. Figure out what you want to do ASAP though. You might have to take a step back but should be worth it long term.
Curious, what’s your comp like?
Also curious. Have thought about switching over from IB for the WLB.
I'd say just get a life. You were supposed to learn in your teenage years at school. Now in your 30s you should use what you've learned, and then switch off your laptop and go bang chicks. Life is short. Do you really want to spend it all on learning meaningless office skills that have zero value in a global scheme of life?
