Transition to RX as SVP

I work in coverage right now as a senior VP.

Thinking about long term career paths and was curious for people’s take on how steep the learning curve would be if I were to switch to an RX group.

Is it easy enough to pick up in a few months? Or do you need deeper foundational knowledge in groups like FIG and Energy?

Probably depends a bit on your work but what you are missing is the legal documentation part which would be handled by LevFin or other financing groups. Modeling I would imagine you are up to speed if you spend 6+ years in M&A.

While certain industries are impacted more than others it’s a product group so not sure if industry knowledge will be a differentiating factor.

What makes you want to go over to RX? For me it sounds a bit like you are not sure what to gain out of it given that you should have extensive experience on the M&A side by now and switching to a product group like RX would set you back a few years I would imagine.
