UBS Hong Kong Top Groups

In terms of deal flow, modeling, exit opp, culture, etc., what are the top groups within UBS HK?

I realize that UBS was one of the top shops in HK but has been hit really hard in the past few years. Their ECM was great but may not have great deal flow now due to the license suspension last year.

Thanks for any insight in advance.

UBS China business is very solid. If you don't speak Mandarin these days, very very challenging to get into either industry or country coverage except better change at product teams. There aren't any teams that are absolute weak spots per se. For tier 1 banks like UBS, they have the budget to hire the best across the street, and given their strong franchise power, it's easy for them to win mandates for landmark deals that will give you decent exposure and prep you for switch to other tier 1 shops later on.

Re the suspension of equity u/w license - it is what it is. Things are running back at normal now, so it shouldn't be a concern at all, in particular if you are just a junior. UBS has one of the most entrenched and best private banking/coverage network across Asia, and that's absolutely a compelling selling point for any ECM/DCM u/w that can secure a top position mandate for them in Asia.

Lastly, their office is nice, and they pay well.
