almost everyone VP and above left...either to C en masse, or a few to DB a bit prior to the big exodus. Analysts and associates were not taken, except in maybe a couple of very limited circumstances.

Honestly I don't know why anyone would join that office (i didn't drop for it recently), and the former UBS guys said the same. No knock on the bank as a whole (though you probably could knock the bank as a whole) but it just doesn't make sense to join that group. Best case scenario they bring in some spare MD from another shop...either way doesn't look good in the near future.

I said it in juco speak..cartwright said it in mba speak

I know 4 VP's who left, and have heard from friend who works there that things got pretty ugly. Apparently last year so many senior people left that they had to rescind FT offers from people who had already accepted UBS and declined everywhere else...

Can't confirm this 100% but my source is pretty reliable.

Wall Street leaders now understand that they made a mistake, one born of their innocent and trusting nature. They trusted ordinary Americans to behave more responsibly than they themselves ever would, and these ordinary Americans betrayed their trust.

Whoever said UBS Houston is gone is dead wrong. I know people who work downtown in UBS wealth management. Things got ugly, yes, and a lot of people left, yes, but they haven't closed shop.

I know they took a pretty big hit somewhere around 2011-2013 because a very large group of senior professionals left the team. Don't know how they've been doing since then.

I would stay away from UBS if you have any other options. They may be working their way back from the mass defections they had, but they are still weak in the space. There are huge questions about bonuses as well as the security of your job. There are 10-12 better places to work in Houston.
