UChicago first-year

Incoming UChicago freshman planning to major in Econ and interested in IB/PE down the line.

Trying to figure out my first-quarter schedule and would appreciate advice from current students/alums.

A few specific questions:

  • Would you recommend taking 3 or 4 classes in Fall Quarter as a freshman?
  • For the math sequence, would you recommend taking math in Fall, or holding off until Winter once I’m settled in?
  • What are some good GPA-friendly Core classes
  • Any specific Core courses/professors that you'd recommend?
  • For someone trying to maintain a strong GPA for finance recruiting, what are the best GPA tips / mistakes to avoid at UChicago?

Would appreciate any Uchicago advice at all
