UCL Bsc Management Science vs Warwick Bsc Econ and Industrial Organization

I'm a kid from the US, so I don't know much about the UK. If I go over there to study at one of these two options, I'd probably stay over there for a couple of years and then transfer back through an MBA program. I don't know if that's realistic, but that's the plan I have.

How do my two offers compare? Would the Warwick course be better for IB and the UCL for consulting? Is one significantly better than the other or are they mostly the same? Does the newness of the UCL management science program hurt or help it?

Between the two, I'd probably want UCL for its location, but I'm not entirely convinced yet on the course. I heard that at these top UK schools it doesn't really matter what you major in, but what do I know?

This is a big choice, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In terms of IB recruitment they are very similar. However, Econ at Warwick will be much tougher than Management from an academic standpoint. Also, London is much nicer than Leamington and it will be a lot easier for you attend all the in-house networking events.

Both are top 10 unis and have strong alumni network in IB and MBB (more true for UCL for the latter). I would definitely major in something which have a solid quant component, don't view uni just as a brand, pick a major which can actually have some tangible output. As a US citizen I guess you would pay £21K per year, check the management syllabus and ask yourself if that's worth the bill.

ucl has more rep with us mba programs. also, you cant beat london networking. though i agree with the above poster that mbb consulting is oxbridge heavy, bcg sinks a significant amount of resources into one of the finance soc's at ucl so take that as you will.

from my experience, a lot of networking occurs not on campus per se but through events hosted at a bank's office. their offices are obviously in london.

moreover, it's a hell of a lot easier to grab coffee with someone if you are already in london rather than schleping down from the midlands.
