Undergrad Sophomore Looking to transfer

This is my first post here, but I've been a long time lurker. Excuse any misused lingo.

Currently I'm an undergrad starting my sophomore yr at CUNY Hunter, and after this semester I'm anticipating a 3.7 GPA with a bunch of Micro/Macro/Pol Sci classes (avoided core requirements). I founded a top 3,000 ranking website bringing in revenues of about $10,000 a month before expenses. (Which should stick out in my resume, but caused me to really mess up in high school - which is why I'm at where I'm at) I would ideally like to double major in Pol Sci/Finance, get some work/intern experience and go for a JD/MBA joint degree and go through the IB ranks and eventually go into Venture Capital

My high school GPA blows but I have a great SAT. Unfortunately this still holds weight for transfer students and limits me from getting into the NYU's, UPenns, Columbia, etc .

I'm looking at schools somewhere in the north/east that are semi-target for IB. I have two choices as of now: to transfer to CUNY Baruch for the Spring 2010 term and get a nice GPA there and from there EITHER bounce to a "real" non-commuter college somewhere in the East/Northeast to finish up my BBA Finance/Pol Sci major strong OR just stick it out at CUNY Baruch.

The reason I want to go to Baruch and transfer elsewhere from there is because it has, at least, a tiny bit of recognition on the street vs CUNY hunter.

This is where I need WSO's help.. what school would be good for me? Looking for a non-commuter semi-target for IB with good social/study atmosphere in the northeast. Or should I just stay at Baruch?

Thanks all - sorry if I missed anything, and for the wall of text.

Stick to Baruch and do well. I personally know a lot of students in Baruch with great offers lined up at BB's and boutiques. Also, not all Baruch kids are 'shitty'....you just have to find the right crowd....

Baruch has some solid placement...I would transfer there and stay. Also, you should really look at what you want to do. VC and IB are nothing like starting your own business and you should really think if you have the right personality for IB. Also, there is no point in getting those double majors if what you really want is business related. I can see you taking some extra Pol Sci classes because they interest you, but to get the whole major when you have no intention of getting a Pol Sci related job is a waste of time---time better suited at getting a higher GPA than 3.7 and networking.

Thanks Gekko and Disarray for your opinions - appreciate it.

@Gekko, the principle reason I want to double major in Pol Sci/Finance is because it would make me more well suited for a JD/MBA but that's still very much up in the air and can be disregarded for the time being.

Perhaps this is the wrong forum, since I know IBankers have better things to do but this topic seems to have died down. It's "crunch time" for fall 2010 transfers and some more insight s would be greatly appreciated
