Undergraduate-UCONN

Hello all,

The questions I am asking here may seem stupid because I am a noob. #Don't judge. I am just kidding. Anyway, I am a sophomore in college trying to break into investment banking, more specifically an internship in NYC. I attend the University of Connecticut Stamford campus, which is not a non-target school. I have started the networking process, and have a couple of good contacts. I have applied online to many places such as BOA and GS, but have not heard back from either of them. Is this just me being a overanxious because I have not hear anything for a couple of weeks, or if there is something that I could be doing to help this process that I am not doing. How do I show these people that I am not just doing it for the money, that I want to do because I enjoy it and I want to learn from them. Are there things I can do besides applying online, networking and attending career fairs? It just seems like what i am doing right now is not enough. Also, thoughts on working in IB vs HF, I am leaning towards the former but want to know differences between the two in terms of work, compensation, and the like. Lastly, when applying online, I guess the best search term would be "summer analyst investment banking"? Or is there something else that would narrow the search down a bit more?

Thank you very much.

NK

This is just a sample "I attend the University of Connecticut Stamford campus, which is not a non-target school." Please proofread your writing before publishing. Having said that, network every chance you get. It is not easy to get into an IB or HF from a non-target school, however, it is doable. Good luck!

You can start by listing all the IB firms you are interested. Then get your cover letter and resume review review and review. After making sure everything is good then apply online and also if you can find out if they are offering any information session either outside or in your school. also if you have any friends or relative that is working in IB call them up have them help you or something.
