Unvaccinated 2022 interns
Since the nyc mayor is mandating vaccines to work in person starting soon, and you can only work remotely in nyc while being unvaccinated, what are banks going to do with unvaccinated interns next summer? Are they going to do a virtual program for them while the other interns go in person, or how would that work?
How about getting the vaccine?
WSO is full of anti-vaxx dumbasses; this same argument happens every month nowadays.
Didn’t really care about being pro or anti vaxx, went in a few days ago for a booster shot and the nurse warned me and said “people in your age group have been experiencing heart palpitations and inflammation after the booster, if that happens, get in touch with us you’ll be fine”
Sure as fucking shit it happens and now I’ve been dealing with chest and heart pain that hasn’t let me sleep. Guess what happens when you start speeding up a vaccine and forcing people to take it for a virus that has a 99.999999% survival rate for people younger than 50.
This is honestly one of the reasons I got the vaccine tbh. Although who knows it's just a matter of time until taking 2 boosters will become the new standard for being "fully vaccinated." With this new moronic variant (anagram for omicron) and ligma and sugma sure to appear soon, who knows what's going to happen. This shit could be the new normal.
In Israel you lose your vaccine passport unless you've taken your 4th shot. Coming soon to the US, in the blue states anyway
I would imagine rescind the offer (similar to how they will handle in person roles). There is always the chance they allow interns to work remotely, but I would think they won’t (and even if they do, you are at a huge disadvantage if everyone else is in office).
you think it is that certain interns will be in the office?
No, not certain. A month ago I would have said definitely, but many firms are pushing back return to office with the new variant. Probably 50-50 now.
Some banks (Citi) have stated they will terminate unvaccinated current employees, and almost every bank requires new hires to be vaccinated. Your only way out of this is to move to Texas where these rules don't apply.
You are absolutely entitled to your personal beliefs, but objectively, not being in the office when 95% of your peers are will jeopardize your return offer significantly.
The firms can still enforce it as a part of firmwide policies.
Texas allows an extremely broad personal exemption in addition to religious + medical, basically impossible to enforce it there. Although I'm sure the firms can still keep the unvaccinated people out of the office.
I was still in Citi's system for a role I applied to a while ago and I got an email stating that being vaccinated is now a condition of employment, and this was a few months ago before Omicron. Wouldn't be surprised if other banks have similar policies or follow suit
if only the science actually backed up any of this insane nonsense. Unvaccinated people do not put anyone at risk. It's crazy to act like that
Idiotic take right here
Absolutely untrue. Did you skip all your HS biology lessons?
WTF!
Why the MS on this comment? It's completely factual.
The only group that poses a threat to others are carriers of the virus, which we know comprise both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. If you don't believe the former can be carriers, please introduce yourself to google.com.
Simply being unvaccinated itself does not put others at risk. Please stop purporting anyone who is unvaccinated is sick.
OP are you at a BB or EB?
If the election turned out differently, the roles would be reversed and the other side would be pointing out all the side effects. They were starting that narrative in October.
It's why medical decisions shouldn't be made by politics, and corporate policies such as this are effectively an extension of politics. You end up making it unnecessarily divisive and end up with situations where 51% try to do the other 49% wrong instead of finding a solution for what's best for everyone.
If you want to get the shot, I'm not stopping you, I got it myself actually, but this should not be a condition for employment. Huge difference between being anti-vax and anti-mandate...of course the pro-mandate people are fully aware of this and just like to trot out the line "anti-vax" to distract from a real discussion and squash dissent but it is what it is.
The argument of "they're a private business and can do what they want" really opens up a disturbing can of worms, where we're effectively outsourcing civil rights violations to the private sector that wouldn't fly otherwise. If the argument is "it's not a mandate, you just can't provide for your family without it" then it's a mandate.
This.
In before the "Unvaccinated 2022 Interns" post turns into the "Why didn't I get a return offer" post
:-)
Enjoy your MM!
Wells Fargo has sent the following mandate for 2022 intern ib interns: "If you are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you are required to test within 4 to 7 days prior to your first day at a physical Wells Fargo location to ensure you obtain your test result prior to your first day in the office"
Looks like testing is in
Yeah but then you're working at Wells. Yuck.
>"GoingToBeAnMD"
>Likes to be called sir
>Penis less than 2 inches
>works in BO
I think working at Wells would be the least of your concerns...
Are you in a satellite office? This doesn't meet NY state standards, they are much stricter than the federal vax or test policy. For any NYC office you're going to be required to be vaccinated or WFH, unless WF is requiring everyone to wear masks at all times.
I thought most of WF IB sits in CLT?
I believe everyone should get vaccinated, but a mandate is not right.
I don't work at a bank but my company will terminate anyone that is not vaccinated unless you have some type of exemption
