U.S. Retail Bank Looking to Acquire Elite IB M&A Practice

My FactSet is down because my bank is behind on our accounts payable, so I thought I’d post here as a substitute.

I’m on the corp dev team at a large commercial bank pursuing inorganic growth, and I have been tasked with finding acquisition targets (classic).

The objective is to acquire a highly success legacy investment banking platform that will bring in talent from histoircally top tier firms (think Wells Fargo level) and catapult us to top 6 in the U.S. M&A and investment banking fee league tables. Bonus points if it makes us a real player in the international highly complex cross-border public to public multi-year-approval-and-closing-timeline M&A space in EMEA, APAC, and Polynesian island regions.

We are most concerned with pedigree of senior hires, not to be confused with their closed M&A fee track record or efficiency. We are well capitalized to fund this acquisition including $500 billion+ of assets on balance sheet and public stock experiencing high velocity growth (-6% YTD). Have confidential info that our assets are highly liquid and stored across various branches along the east coast for ease of access to fund growth.

Thank you for any suggestions in advance. I need this to go well to secure my promotion to senior analyst.
