Using contact to ask for contacts at different bank?
I met a VP at a bank that likes me a lot, but he already said that they would not being hiring any SA's for the summer.
Would it potentially burn bridges to ask this VP to put me in contact with some of his connects at other banks and leverage those for interviews?
i dont think so...if he truly likes you, he should want to help you, and therefore would have no problem putting you in contact with people he knows...as long as you do have a solid relationship, i wouldn't see it being a problem at all...
btw, this wouldnt happen to be a BB would it? if it is its weird that they arent having a SA class this year
nah this is a boutique bank.
Approach it tactfully, and make sure that you don't come across as though you are simply using him as a spring board to just go elsewhere. As Fahmie mentioned, if you have a solid relationship with him simply ask him by saying, "Hey, I really appreciate all the advice you've provided up to this point as it's been an immense help. I really want to maximize my opportunities to land a Summer Analyst role this summer, and though I would love to work at your firm, it seems that you don't have any opportunities available at this point. If this changes, I would love to be considered for anything that potentially pops up, but in the meantime do you happen to have any personal contacts that you would be comfortable referring me to? I would really appreciate your help if this is a possibility."
