I was curious to hear thoughts about how valuable my current resume is and what are my best options for FT/summer 2018 investment banking positions.
Main points:
- May 2018 Graduation Date
- Econ Major with Business Minor (Finance Focus)
- 3.51 major GPA
- Top 10% in UNCG's Bryan Business School
- Incoming Investment Banking winter analyst at a boutique firm in Charlotte
- Enrolled in self-guided modeling and valuation courses through Wall Street Prep
- Current Financial Representative Intern at Northwestern Mutual
- Run a successful side business that I started my freshman year with 43 5-star reviews
What are my best options for opportunities in Investment Banking? I prefer the tech group. Would MM IB be possible? Should I delay graduation by semester and land a summer internship?

OP, fuck MM IB. Hit up KKR, Apollo, and TPG. Your technical skills are unmatched from Wall Street Prep like Robert DuVal.
I feel like even MM/boutique IB will be a very uphill battle for FT without any IB internships.
I think you a better chance at a summer analyst position this summer, but you're still going to have your work cut out for you; a lot of banks have filled their internship classes for next summer already.
The guy is graduating this spring. Internships are over and REAL MM ft recruiting is done.
I'll have the winter IB internship, but I agree that getting a summer internship would be very helpful.

I understand that, and it's something I will do if something comes through. I really want to get into IB and if delaying graduation is what it takes, I'm all for it.
I'm sorry to say, but the MM ship has sailed. Your best bet is to knock it out of the park at your winter internship and then look for FT work at boutiques. There are plenty (paid) FT gigs at boutiques in Charlotte, so I would start there.
