Vanderbilt Offer Revocation Situation

Upperclassman at Vanderbilt going into a UMM PE role here to give some color on the kid revoking others' offers. Before the post blew up on viral on WSO, many sophomores who landed offers for 2027 were getting emails from HR at the banks they had offers from asking to schedule a conduct meeting (or something alone those lines). During that time there was mass speculation the kid was behind this and a couple of his peers and possibly friends have come out and stated that he was bragging to them about getting all of Greek Life's offers cut. Rough situation overall and Vanderbilt's return offer rates for Summer '27 not looking too hot.

If the facts were true and you could actually prove he fabricated information and targeted multiple people with intent, then yeah, this kid could have real legal trouble. Not just school discipline.

Possible charges / claims:

  • Fraud / Intentional Misrepresentation
Making up false information to get firms to act on it
  • Wire Fraud (federal)
Using email or messaging as part of a scheme to deceive
  • Defamation (libel)
False statements about peers causing reputational and financial harm
  • Tortious Interference
Intentionally sabotaging others’ job offers through improper means
  • Civil Conspiracy
If he coordinated with others to do it at scale

Bottom line: still more likely civil lawsuits and career damage than jail, but if there is clear evidence of fabricated data and intent across multiple victims, this goes from “WSO drama” to actual legal exposure pretty quickly.

Correct.  Truth is an absolute defense in all of these claims. And I can't imagine HR is willing to fire someone over unsubstantiated claims. Not saying what he did is OK, I'm 100% against turning HR on anyone (basically the white nerd version of snitches get stitches).  But won't be lawsuits unless he lied.

Funniest

I fuck with this kid. Complete disdain and contempt for those around him and stops at nothing to contribute to the demise of his compatriots. If vanderbilt had any eye for talent they'd guide him to the right political mentors asap

The kid is no pure soul either, just a matter of time when he slips up and people won't be so forgiving honestly. Good question is how often were these ppl using slurs for him to have this much proof (unless he was fabricating which he should imo face legal repercussions).

This whole situation is fucked up.

Vandy upperclassman in UMM PE saying the kid was actively snitching on multiple sophomores (mostly Greek life) by sending screenshots/emails to banks, which triggered conduct meetings and revoked 2027 offers. He was allegedly bragging about it to friends.

Whether he fabricated stuff or just reported real slurs, it’s nuclear. Could open him up to serious blowback — defamation, tortious interference, or at minimum getting blacklisted in recruiting.

Vandy’s summer 2027 return offer rate is apparently getting destroyed because of this.

Insane way to start your career. Even if you hate the frat guys, turning HR into your personal police is crazy.

Can someone please explain what happened, I’ve heard like bits and pieces of the story, but still don’t have a solid idea of what actually occurred.

I think it's pretty obvious that these kids were actually saying slurs. But I'll also say it blows my mind that you'd send screenshots to HR departments. Truly insane behavior.

Truly insane indeed and I don't know how you can trust anyone who would do that.  This is a person who is liable to decide that anything I say might be morally unfit in his eyes and he takes the power upon himself to report me to find the person who would judge me for it and report me?  I'd never utter a word to someone like that.  It honestly looks bad on PJT if they allow the guy to join full time.

Why is it presumed in this thread and others that there is any merit to the accusations? The burden of proof lies with the accuser, not with the accused. If the allegations against this kid are all anonymous, and no verification can be performed with real receipts, why would any of this be taken seriously by anyone?

Not trolling, genuinely curious. I haven’t seen anything concrete to substantiate the claims here. For all I know, the behavior that is being alleged of the accused may in fact be in the process of being perpetrated against the accused himself right now (I.e. all we can show with certainty is that it is in fact the accused who is the subject of anonymous conduct accusations that people are apparently bringing to his HR department…)

If I accuse you of hiding a teapot in the rings of Saturn, it would be impossible for you to prove the counterfactual to establish your innocence. The burden would be on the accuser to demonstrate the presence of the teapot in Saturn’s rings as a starting point, and if they’re not willing or able to do that we’re at somewhat of an impasse right from the start. What am I missing here?

I honestly love this... natural selection at its finest. If you are a frat-tard that doesn't know how to not get caught doing shit that I've been doing every day since 9th grade, you don't deserve to work at Arby's let alone your LMM vandy ib job... and this kid will get buttfucked for his start of career for being a snitch. Whole situation brings a smile to my face

heard about the town from many former classmates and yes it's the worst of the worst. not to mention the rampant levels of cheating but everything is an intense environment and kids will do anything to get to the top and the amount of stories you will hear will blow your mind. much much worse than bay area in my opinion. not surprised by the level of competition, there are many bright kids from the area that go on to do big things and recently heard abt a kid who turned down top level bank offers to work on a startup funded by a billionaire. you will be working with intelligent people but many are extremely toxic and you should keep a close eye if uve never met one before, the hs/town is known for creating this toxic culture early on and making the students act like this. i would not be surprised to hear about this hs/town in the news in the few years given the many peculiar figures.

I dont understand, are these guys getting their SA 27 offers rescinded or is their % of getting FT offer jeopardized?

Repeating a reply as a comment for wider exposure…
