Very slow summer internship (MBA associate) - Need for concern?

Hey folks, I am currently interning as an Summer Associate at a BB in industrials. The last couple of weeks have been really slow (despite 3 staffings). I was wondering if other Summer Associates have similar experiences or if it is just specific to my group?

Also, does a slow summer impact the chances to receive a return offer? I am focusing on delivering a perfect work product on the few assignments I am getting. I am also trying to network with full-timers, should I be doing anything else?

Would appreciate any input.

Thx!

Its tough to assign work virtually. Also its probably your first week or so on the desk, it takes a bit for people to realize they can/should use you.

Was a summer associate last year in an m&a group and am returning FT in a few weeks and here’s my two cents:

Don’t worry.  If you’re screwing up, you will be made well aware of that fact.  If things are really going south, your peer mentor will be the first to reach out.  If things continue to go south then your VP-level mentor will reach out.  Point is, you’ll know.  A lot of the time people just get busy and you’re among their last priorities.  Also keep in mind, unless you’re at JP or possibly Jefferies, your firm took you on with an intention to hire you.

Keep focusing on delivering good product and you’ll be fine.
