Wells Fargo Corporate and Commercial Banking

Hi Guys,

I was looking at Wells Fargo's Corporate and Commercial Banking division. Is this an I-Banking unit? If not, which department is it part of? thanks.

No, it's not investment banking... it's corporate and commercial banking.

Imagine your local Wells Fargo which does checks, deposits, CD's, etc. for your local townspeople. Now imagine a Wells Fargo that does that for businesses. Basically, that's corporate banking. Quite different from the kinds of M&A and underwriting that goes on in IBD.

... Yeah, I wouldn't expect to be making the IBD-typical $125-135k your first year.

in large banks, the corporate banking division usually works directly with the underwriting/syndication group. it's heavy credit analysis (including documentation). aside from pricing, the skills you'll develop in that group aren't much different than underwriting.

it's different than investment banking. that said, it's not like you're a bank teller.
