What do you think?
Do you think any big wig in finance has ever been on WSO and commented back to people? (ie: Kenny Griffin, Gabe Plotkin, Ackman) Also, do you think they've heard of this community and know we exist?

Career Resources
Yes
I heard from a very credible source that every time a new "GS vs. MS vs. EB" or prestige type thread is put up, the CEOs drop everything they're doing and jump on to squabble. That's why you see so many well informed posts from "Prospect - IB".
You mean like Justine Tobin
I think it is unlikely that any of the really top folks at the big institutions have heard of WSO, much less come here to actually post. A few observations:
When WSO was launched a little over 15 years ago, the community mostly consisted of early career professionals or college students. I’m talking a few years out of school, max. Fast forward to today, these people are just becoming MDs/Partners at firms, and many of them have sadly moved on. WSO has a feature where you can look at someone’s profile to see how long they’ve been a member, which can help give you ‘some’ idea as to how far into their career they are (unless they joined WSO in high school…).
Separately but consistently, I’ve discussed WSO before with other Partners / senior folks in the finance industry and the ones in their 40s+ have almost universally not spent time on the site. They might be aware of it, but most of them are not. Conversely, you’d be hard pressed to find many folks in banking/PE that are in their 20s and haven’t heard of WSO. I suspect as time goes on and these people become more senior, WSO’s presence will continue to grow on Wall Street.
All that said, the seniority of the posters on WSO has very, very clearly improved over time. For example, there used to be only a handful of us answering PE related questions in the late 2000s early 2010s, but now you have all sorts of experienced folks sharing their knowledge. It has become really impressive. (This doesn’t even address the mountain of really good guidance in the form of guides / mentors / interview prep / etc.).
When I become a top dog one day, I’ll come back
Hurry up! :)
