What to do now with no offer
Hi - I am currently a sophomore at a semi-target with no investment banking offer. Yes, I have made mistakes along the way, but I was able to get into 4 decent middle market processes, with 3 leading to a superday. Unfortunately, during this time, I got sick and was out for around a month, leading to most of my processes running out. With recruiting now, I don't have an offer and don't want to give up just yet. Is there anything that I should do, any resources available, any firms still recruiting that I can look into? I know that I may not have done everything available before, but I have been working at this for 8 months, and I'm not ready to call it quits just yet. Any advice is appreciated.
Ideally, delay grad by a semester/quarter.
Also what range of school do you mean by semitarget–the definition has so much variation on this site so better perspective is needed.
Okay, I've seen the delay a semester strategy - honestly, that isn't a viable option based on my financial situation. Target school meaning ND/UVA/IU/UIUC, that area. I am trying to look for boutique shops that I can recruit to and things like that but I don't know how many options I realistically have left.
Comparing uiuc to ND is insanity
Congrats on UIUC!

Start networking a few places where people often reneg for off-cycle. That or open your options to other careers in finance and plan to recruit IB full-time.
Do you have any off the top of your head?
DB, Macquarie, JPM (I think) will have second wave recruiting
Just keep going. I was in your shoes not so long ago. Get ANY offer you can and re-recruit your ass off. Spend your summer at a no-name boutique (or better), get the return offer, and you will have the chance to move upmarket. Quitting is for losers, and worse, future consultants.
Would agree with the sentiment, but not the part about shitting on consultants. Getting an offer at MBB or a Rx CO firm would arguably be easier than IB and the key needed to unlock the gateway to a top-tier IB position. It definitely isn’t IB or bust from ug.
I've been trying to find boutiques or regional boutiques, but have been having trouble. Is there any place you would look? I've been scouring LinkedIn, RecruitU, Adventis, and things like that.
Linkedin/Google should be all you need. I would pick out a few cities you'd be wiling to live in, make a list of firms in each one, and do cold outreach at this point. Don't wait for applications.
To the point of other commenters, many established banks will continue to run processes in the Fall. Anytime an application does get posted on Adventis make sure to hammer it and network hard. Networking is the key to getting looks at this stage in the game.
In the same situation but have a TAS offer at big 4 can I pivot to FT IB from there?
