What to do with a gap year…

Fellow Monkeys,

I will be interning at an EB this summer that I fully intend to start at if I receive a return. If I don't get the return offer, I don't feel terribly stressed about landing at another shop.

With that said, I had a non-traditional route to IB and actually pushed my graduation date back to 4.5 years (1 extra semester) specifically to get an SA seat in IB after learning about banking after what should've been my true sophomore recruiting cycle.

Totally happy with my decision to extend graduation, but that leaves me with 3 classes to take next fall (partial freedom) and then 6 months before starting anywhere full-time.

SO, I'd love to hear any and all ideas for how to use this time in a meaningful and fulfilling way, whether you were/are in a similar boat or not.

Some things I'm considering: - solo travel US and Western Europe - attempting to recruit some friends to travel domestically or abroad - moving into the my FT city early to explore and get settled - graduating in the spring to pick up a minor in my degree in something that interests me (like comp sci, I'm a math major) - some combination of these…

OP here - another option I’ve heard is looking for a low paying or even unpaid internship at a startup or VC or some field that interests me.
