What you really need to succeed

IQ is not the most important factor in determining success. Other factors such as Moral Intelligence, Body Intelligence and EQ tend to be more predictive of success. Almost 85% of financial success is determined by your personality, negotiation and communications skills.

What do you guys think, is this true? If so, why do IBs put so much emphasis on the "right" school and grades?

dogbooI really think success is just a matter of self discipline and perseverance. Most people know what they need to do to succeed, but most arent willing to make the sacrifices necessary to do it.

I think rich might be a relative term in this case. Pretty sure a lot of blue collar workers are up at 5 and their families are just getting by.

Yes I agree with with both elements. Perseverance is a matter of drive, you either have it or you don't and self-discipline can be developed. The question in this case is; how can you develop self-discipline quickly.

I'm sure there are people who are very talented but have no discipline and fail to reach the top of business (if that would be their goal). I once got told by a professor that recruiters prefer people who have the self discipline and are able to work for long periods of time instead of talented people who have no drive since good grades have come naturally to them without much effort.

These quotes summed it up pretty well to your question about IQ, EQ and etc. To me it is just one word, "Grit" defined as: firmness of mind or spirit : unyielding courage in the face of hardship or danger.
