What's The Culture Like at Guggenheim?

I know it's a strong boutique that pays well. But is it the kind of firm that tries to push internal growth? How does the culture fare relative to the BB's, MM's and other boutiques.

Has the culture or strength of the firm improved in recent years?

This could be for IB or ER.

I’ve only ever had networking calls with guys at Gugg, and it was Gugg Chicago as well (MM). In short, no idea if this is still relevant, and definitely is to be taken with a grain of salt. But from what I’ve heard, Guggenheim’s practice was originally built up by a lot of the senior hardos who got the short end of the stick during the financial crisis (Bear Stearns, Lehman). To add on to that, from the calls I’ve had it seems like they’ve retained that old school mindset so they’ll work you to the bone, but they also know comp is what makes this industry tick and they will pay in proportion to how hard they crank you and the deals you get done (sic the compensation plans of all the senior people there). In addition, I hear that they’re moving up fast and trying to build out their practice aggressively- they’ve poached a bunch of solid senior people from other banks recently.

Once again, not sure if Gugg is truly an anomaly in this sense or if they just put more bravado into how much of hardos they are when they’re on the phone. Hope this helps.

Have networked extensively with the Chicago office and don't get this vibe at all. I have no doubt they crank you but I felt like the office was relatively chill
