When and How should I follow-up?
Two days ago I sent a cold email to an alumni who is an MD at a boutique to request an informational interview on the phone next week. Within 1 hour he replied and suggested to have a coffee chat near his office next week. He also gave me his phone # and asked me to leave a message regarding the time and days that work for me.
I called him and left a voice mail regarding the time, in case it didn't get through, I also replied to his email with the time. Two days have passed and I haven't heard back from him. So when should I follow-up?
I hesitate because if I follow-up tomorrow (Friday) it might seem that I'm too desperate but if I follow-up next Monday to finalize the time of next week for a busy MD, is that way too rude?
Also, should I follow-up by calling him again to leave a voice mail (since he gave me his phone # and asked me to leave a message) or just sending him another email?
Hope to get some advice from you guy, thanks in advance!

In instances like these, I think it's best to not approach the situation as if they are a potential "mate" if you will.
This MD absolutely knows what you want, and you know what you want. Let's not play games here. Show him you are serious and follow up to ensure that he received the message.
At the end of the day there are two outcomes, you end up kicking yourself for not following up, or you realize that this person didn't value your time enough to stick to his word. I'd take the latter if I were you and know that you had done all that you could've.
