When is the right time to fill out applications?
I am sure earlier the better right? Just for sheer number purposes, the earlier you start, the more you could fill out.
Well right now I am a sophomore SA at a Boutique in manhattan, and I am getting some decent experience for someone my age. I want to start filling out applications, but I cant really fill out the bullet points for my current internship right now because it is so early and I basically just started. I also may be transferring and am unsure about what to do in regards with that, I don't want to fill out apps without my new school on it (got accepted to two semi-targets).
So given those few variables, when is the right time to fill out applications? Can you make edits to applications after they have been submitted, like change your resume that you uploaded? I just don't want to complete applications when I know my information will be very different in the coming months.
Any tips on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Applications for what? For SA junior year? Those are not even out yet.
I would just work until I can write some stuff on my resume and then reach out to alums to discuss their background and how to best position yourself for recruiting in January. Keep in touch with them, update your progress in the fall and you should be in good shape.
Online Applications are for HR purposes.
Right I am doing that as well, but I feel that filling out applications are still necessary. And actually, a lot of my networking contacts will still tell me to fill out the application whenever possible. Speaking of Jr year SA

Okay great. Also maybe some of you can help me out here. I have had several informational interviews recently, one tomorrow actually, and was wondering how to approach these towards the end of the conversation. Do I ask for additional contacts, or ask how I could best position myself for recruiting like someone said above?
Ask how to best position yourself. Most likely they would either offer help to refer you to someone else or they will tell you to reach out again when it gets near recruiting season. Then politely ask if they can refer you to someone in the team so you can get a better sense of the culture and people's background.
Note, however, that you should only proceed with this if you feel the conversation has run smoothly so I hope ur not an awkward person on the phone. But generally those two ways of asking gets good responses.
