When would you consider your offer safe?
Just mailed my signed offer back to the recruiter and the recruiter said he got it, thanks. Now what? Full employment confirmation and drug test will take place in June. Just wondering if it's safe to relax a bit and assume that I have a job or continue networking just in case.
It depends where you work. No job is 100% safe, but some are more than others.
in today's world, no job is safe. even after you start, who knows what crazy stunts they'll play (ie. fire those who score the lowest on their Series 7). networking is something you should always be doing to get ahead in your career. that said, you have an offer. sit back, relax, party, and enjoy your final year of school. if a networking opportunity arises, don't hesitate to see what it's about.
I'd be 100% content on the last day of your analyst stint.

This is merely the beginning
Azwethinkweiz, firms will fire you if you don't pass the 7, not based on your scores on the 7.
True story from a buddy of mine at another shop, when he and his analyst class took the Series 7, the firm gave them all one shot to pass the exam. If they didn't pass, they were fired and had to pay back the signing and/or relocation bonus(es) they got. IF they failed to pass the 66 on the first try, they were removed from their bonus pool. IF they failed the 66 a second time, they were fired and had to repay a portion of their signing/relocation bonuses. He said 5 people failed their 7 and everyone passed by the (80% on the first go) second time on the 66.
As for networking, always network. No matter what, just keep networking. It will help you out significantly in the long run.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe JPMorgan fired a certain percentage of just-starting first years this past summer after their test results.
We're about to enter a Great Depression. Don't you want a president who's already dressed for it?
No, this is not true.
I heard that Citi fired any analyst over the summer that failed an exam during training, but I have no idea how accurate this is.
Forgive my ignorance, but just how hard is either the Series 7 or Series 66? Would it reasonable to expect people pass these exams on the first try?
