Where to live as a summer analyst?

Hi all, first time posting here. I’ll be a summer analyst in NYC in few months and am trying to figure out where to live.

I’ll be working in Hudson Yards, but I’ve found a place that might work in Brooklyn Heights. Would that be a reasonable commute for an intern, or would it be better to try to live closer to the office?

Any help/advice is hugely appreciated!

It’s doable, but do you really want to be commuting 40 minutes each way? I’d recommend being a lot closer to the office so you have more time for sleep/work/friends etc. I would just try to find a sublease in Hudson Yards if possible and/or Hell’s Kitchen. It’s worth paying more/having a worse place to have a commute under 20 minutes in my opinion

Try NYU dorms. They're furnished so u don't have to buy/rent furniture and they're fairly affordable and convenient (close to subways), and usually only a 15 min subway ride to most offices regardless of if ur office is in Midtown or Fidi.

That commute would be absurd in my opinion. Most summers live within 20 min, and many are a walkable distance from the office. You will be competing against your peers for seats, especially in this environment, so keep that in mind.

Frankly, I would think twice about the commitment / dedication of an SA i work with who lives in Brooklyn. They could certainly prove me wrong by crushing it, but it doesn’t set them up well.

You’re delusional if you’re judging someone’s commitment based on where they live in their first summer in a new city. If they’re first in, last out types why do you care if they’re commuting from Chelsea or Timbuktu?
