Where to live in BOS (SA/FT)?

I'm going to be interning in IB next summer, and the office is in the Government Center/State area. If everything's virtual, I will just just sublease, but I'm wondering where I should live if there's some in-person component. Since I'm already here, might as well also ask where I should live for FT? The last posts on this topic are kinda old, so I was wondering if anything has changed.

SA - anywhere cheap and close. If things return to normal I'd say you should sublet in the North End to be close things during the summer.

FT - Seaport and South Boston (NOT the South End) are good spots for the younger crowd where everything happens.

Cambridge. That’s where Harvard and MIT are. There are also other schools near by Cambridge as well. Brandeis, BU, BC and Wellesley. I go to school in Boston and absolutely love Cambridge but it can also be pricey. If your doing SA stay at a school like BU since its in the city, but full time def Cambridge. Also what firm are you working at? I am looking at banks in the city.

Yeah I also go to one of the schools you've mentioned, but am asking because I'm looking to see where's good for an IB analyst. I'm willing to prioritize things like being close to the office since I probably can afford to on an analyst salary, so my needs differ from other people at my school. On that note, isn't Cambridge kinda far from Government Center? I'd prefer to remain anon, but let's just say I'm interning at a MM-LMM firm. There are plenty of opportunities around, not many BB/EBs in Boston (DB has a small office, and I think Lazard does too), but plenty of MMs and boutique software/healthcare-oriented shops.

From Boston originally (not currently there) but would reiterate South Boston/Seaport/Back Bay (or North end as an intern). Cambridge while nice and fun, is a distance from government center (15-20 minutes by car, 20-30 minutes by train) and would be a bitch during rush hour and at 2am when you're trying to get home. I would aim to live somewhere 1-2 T stops away or walking distance.
