Which London career path will make me the most money?

London-specific

Starting at GS/MS/JPM top team in a month. Already know I'll want to move on after two years as the hours on my internship were brutal. Seeking guidance for when headhunters ask me what sort of roles I'm looking for.

I only really care about salary (for now at least lol) as I came from nothing:

Which exit opp will give me the highest TC both in the next 1-5 years and in the long run (if different)?

Detailed breakdown would be appreciated, e.g. not just saying PE, but perhaps giving a shortlist of firms, MM or MF? L/S Hedge Fund? Any numbers for Aso1 salary anecdotal or personal from different career paths would be very helpful.

Thank you

MMHF will give you a shot at maximising comp in a short(er) timeframe compared to most other exits. EV is probably lower than MFPE though

Base is pretty fixed around 100-150. Doesn't really change as you move up, that's HF

Bonus is whatever, depends on a lot. Could be 0, could be 250k+ as a junior. Obviously higher with more experience/better pod perf/better value add.

You can't just walk into this career if you only care about money though (and tbh I doubt that feeling is going to last - it rarely does). You're going to need to actually want to work in public markets investing. It's not for everyone. If you don't, you simply won't last/won't be good enough.

Also, I can guarantee the hours will not be the same when I exit (my group is consistent 100hrs/w), and also at least I'll be getting paid more to justify the hours even if similar.

If your goal is solely to make as much money as you can working, Dubai/Saudi aren't bad places to look for a few years. Can confirm associates all in comp reaches above 400k USD at most banks with VP total comp exceeding 700k USD in a good year. Best part is 0% tax

Yes can confirm - I interned at a top EB in DXB and ASO1 comp was well north of $400k (tax-free) in the record year they had
