Why RX?

Curious to hear some experienced professionals' take on why they're in the RX industry. Already have an offer at EB boutique for RX '23, so not just trying to steal an answer lmfao. Any particular reasons that drew you to RX over M&A and why you stuck out RX for long-run? Would also enjoy hearing from fellow juniors why they chose to endure the technical grind for RX.

Maybe my answer is not what you are looking for given I’m a generalist but I had the opportunity to work on a restructuring transaction and I absolutely loved it for the below reasons:

  • The learning curve in my opinion is much steeper
  • The thought process and solutions senior bankers come up with is amazing
  • The satisfaction of “saving” a company beats any m&a transactions in my views
  • Negotiations and hostility between the different parties is entertaining
  • You get to experience all fronts of banking (e.g. selling off an asset, issuing a bond etc.)

To note I’m not very experienced in restructuring, but from my limited exposure it was great
