“Why sponsors?”

For those that have successfully recruited into a US IBD sponsors group, how did you describe your interest in LBO transactions without giving off the “I’m here for the buy-side exposure” vibe? Seems like a tricky tightrope to walk.

Talked to someone in MS’s sponsors group and he said it’s a great experience because you get deal experience throughout the whole process. Buy-side and financing on acquisitions up front, some financing work for portcos throughout, maybe sell-sides on certain business segments that the sponsor wants to get rid of, and then sell-side at the exit of investments.

Pretty cool
