Will a bank rescind an offer because of a GPA drop?

Hi all,

I signed an IB summer analyst offer at a boutique bank in NYC about 3 weeks ago. I attend a semi-target school in the Northeast, and my GPA was 3.95 when I applied. I just received my grades for this semester. Because of my own stupidity and the pressures of recruiting I messed up my grade in a macro theory course — got a C+. Dropped my GPA to a 3.85. I might be overreacting, but is this a serious issue for my internship? Should I be concerned about my offer getting rescinded?

Thanks guys. Please don't rip me apart, this is my first post on here. I am generally an anxious person and this is just really nagging at me.

As an aside, this just goes to show how ridiculously arbitrary the grading scheme is in higher education. Took number theory and honors econometrics last semester and aced both of those courses. Missed a couple homeworks for this macro theory course, (which is a joke core requirement), during a heavy 2 weeks of interviews and it dropped my GPA because HW constitutes 40% of the final grade. It really is amazing how one course can fuck up a near perfect academic record.

Thanks.

a) you went from a near perfect gpa to a little bit less than a near perfect gpa. you’re fine.

the only time I’ve seen a problem with a gpa drop is if it falls below a 3.3. if a c+ only dropped your gpa by .1, i assume you would need to get a -A+ to be in real trouble.

b) the grading system is not arbitrary. you were given the syllabus at the beginning of the course and i assume access to it was never taken away. don’t blame systems or others for your failures, because that will not be beneficial in your personal or professional life.
