im in NYC but lincoln and Baird are the 2 notable mm's other then Blair in chicago. Then its Solomon.

I'd pick Baird and Lincoln over Blair any day. Baird was and still is the top MM in Chicago.

Everyone is being an ass. You have a few option and it really depends on what you value.

First off, the loop is kinda gross. But, you could find some nice buildings on the cheaper side since no one wants to live there. I really wouldnt recommend living in the loop.

Then, you get to either west loop or river north, both have great places walking distance from the office, but might be a little pricey. A generic nice spot is the Parker in west loop. In river north, river north park is a spot close to East bank club and pretty close to Blair’s office. There are nicer buildings, but those are pretty solid.

If you want to be more social and get something cheaper, go more north to like old town or near north/Gold Coast. If you are cool with a decent commute, look at lakeview for places a lot cheaper.

If I were you, I would either pay up for a west loop spot, or find a crafty spot in west loop or get something a little north of river north.

I also would do your apartment search around a gym because otherwise you will never workout as an analyst. Being close to a grocery store is also nice.

Echo this poster. Don’t live in the loop. Only tourists and clueless transplants live in the loop. I get it, it seems cool, it’s close to the office… don’t do it. There’s no character and after the workday it’s totally empty. Live in a neighborhood with some character - that’s the best part of Chicago.

I live in the Loop by choice and I love it. It is quiet after 7pm and that's just the way I like it.

5 minute walk to work means I wake up at 8:45 and can be in the office for a call by 9:15. Meanwhile other guys are waking up at 8 to get in by 9 due to train / bus. That extra 45 mins of sleep makes a huuuge difference when you're going to bed at 2 am every night.

If I want to go see friends, I just Uber there. I would likely be ubering regardless so it really makes no difference.

Sure I don't have bars or restaurants that are open late but then again, we're in banking. I highly doubt a lot of us are able to grab drinks at 7pm on a Tuesday.

Considering where the office is, you should live at the building at 210 N Wells. It has monthly parking, a pool, hot tub, gym, and a 24/7 concierge with individual in-unit laundry. You’re only two blocks from work. Can’t beat the convenience. Only issue is access to a grocery store, but you can just take a suitcase and fill it with meat for the month.
