I think asking the analyst to do you a favor could be nice. The favor could be as follows: any time he/she wants to email a person on your deal team, to first email you. You can mention that in your opinion this will ultimately make both of your lives easier. I hope that works

Just tell him/her to copy you on all emails to the deal team, especially those to VP+

I think OP just wants to check the analysts emails assuming he or she is just sending out BS so justcopying wouldnt rly help imo

Id just say it bluntly, as an analyst i wouldnt mind especially if its a somewhat important email (assuming the analyst is still a first year)

It might sound controlling or toxic, but I have analysts that I ask to send me drafts before they send anything to clients. I've framed it as "clients can be really dumb and will focus on the wrong things or get distracted or misinterpret messages even if they make sense to bankers - so let me help you to make sure there aren't any misunderstandings". And to be fair, it's true - clients do misinterpret / get distracted, but also part of it is to make sure they don't say anything crazy.

Obviously as they prove they are learning, the goal is that I won't need to check every email over time.
