1st year student struggling to get good summer placement in IB/PE
I’m a first-year student in the GTA working toward a career in investment banking. Over the past month, I’ve been actively recruiting, but I’ve struggled to make meaningful progress or secure interviews. I’ve been reaching out consistently—sending around 10 emails a day to firms and recruiters—but so far, the responses have mostly been deferrals. I’m receiving guidance from upper-year students with strong placements and industry experience, but I’m looking for additional advice on how to improve my approach.

Getting an IB/PE exp in your first year is not very common. Try stuff that's less of a reach.
